Vietnam’s grapefruit export value exceeds 17.5 million USD

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports reached USD 1.164 billion in the first quarter of 2025. Notably, pomelo exports exceeded USD 17.5 million - an impressive 60.6% increase compared to the same period last year.

Vietnamese fresh pomelo is now exported to 12 countries and territories and has risen into the top 10 highest-earning fruit and nut export products nationwide.

International consumers appreciate Vietnamese pomelo for its refreshing flavor, moderate sweetness, easy-to-separate segments, and lack of bitterness. In the U.S. - a highly selective market - Vietnamese pomelo has been praised as having a more appealing taste than many other varieties available.

During a visit to Vietnam in early 2023, U.S. Under Secretary of Agriculture Alexis Taylor gave glowing remarks about the fruit: “Excellent, 10 out of 10. I look forward to seeing this pomelo on shelves in the U.S. and buying it as a local consumer.”

The strong growth in pomelo exports is a positive signal for Vietnam’s fruit sector, especially as major global markets increasingly favor high-quality agricultural products with clear traceability. It also serves as a driving force for Vietnamese businesses to boost value-added processing, build strong branding, and expand their export markets in the near
