On the morning of September 18 at Nguyen Sieu School in Hanoi, hundreds of students took part in the launch ceremony of the “Denmark in my eyes” painting contest 2025 under the theme “Living green.” This annual activity is jointly organized by the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam and the Vietnam–Denmark Friendship Association.

The contest is part of a series of activities celebrating the 54th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1971–2025) and the 12th anniversary of the comprehensive partnership (2013–2025) between Vietnam and Denmark.

The event, organized by the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam and the Vietnam–Denmark Friendship Association, has been held annually in recent years. The 2025 theme “Living green” also aims to highlight the voice of the young generation for a sustainable future. It represents a joint effort to raise awareness and inspire climate action through creative expression.

Accordingly, “Living green” is not limited to major initiatives but begins with thoughtful choices in everyday habitsturning off lights when not in use, bringing cloth bags when shopping, walking or cycling short distances, or planting trees. When practiced collectively, these small changes can generate meaningful and lasting environmental impact.

Through this year’s theme, the contest encourages students to reflect on how even small efforts when shared within families, schools, and communities can drive positive change for the future of our planet. The contest also provides a forum for students to express their ideas, aspirations, and commitment to environmental responsibility.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Ms. Vibeke Norgaard, Education Counsellor at the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam, noted that the contest reflects the strong and growing partnership between the two countries, particularly their shared commitments to advancing sustainable development, fostering educational cooperation, and promoting youth engagement.

Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam–Denmark Friendship Association, and Deputy Director of the Department of Climate Change (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), affirmed that the enthusiastic participation of students not only demonstrates their deep awareness of the environmental challenges posed by pollution and climate change but also sparks hope for a green and sustainable future for the country.

The contest is open to all Vietnamese students from primary to lower secondary levels. The submission deadline is December 20, 2025. The winners will be announced and honored at the awards ceremony to be held in Hanoi at the end of the 2025–2026 academic year.

The prize structure includes 1 Special Prize, 2 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, and 8 Third Prizes. The winner of the Special Prize will receive a tablet and a LEGO set. Winners of the First, Second, and Third Prizes will each receive a LEGO set. In addition, there will be 50 Fourth Prizes, 20 Potential Awards for individuals, and 5 Collective Awards presented by the Organizing Committee.

Immediately after the launch ceremony, students from three schools in Hanoi - Nguyen Sieu Secondary and High School, Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School, and Brendon Primary School - joined in by starting their drawings on the spot.
