On September 25, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Ministry of Finance and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to organize a workshop to summarize the Project "Promoting the investment market for energy saving and efficiency in the industrial sector" to support the implementation of the Vietnam Green Growth Action Plan.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) affirmed that the success of the Project "Promoting the Investment Market for Energy Saving and Efficiency" is a clear demonstration of the effective cooperation between the Government of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea. After more than 3 years of implementation, the project has helped to form a solid foundation for energy saving solutions in the industrial sector, improving the capacity of management agencies, enterprises and financial institutions in implementing energy saving projects.
The project has supported the development of input reports, completed green growth action plans in 10 provinces, and researched and guided green investment projects, contributing to encouraging businesses and financial institutions to participate in energy saving and green development projects.
The project has supported the implementation of feasibility studies on energy efficiency investments in enterprises, and the development of institutional and policy frameworks to attract investment in this sector. Communication and training activities have also contributed to raising public awareness of green growth and sustainable development.
Mr. Lee Byung Hwa - Country Director of KOICA in Vietnam - emphasized that the project has implemented intensive training programs on energy saving, and at the same time shared valuable experiences from Korea in building efficient energy models. In particular, the project has contributed to the formation of research and solutions to reduce energy consumption in key industries such as steel, cement, paper and textiles, thereby expanding investment opportunities in the field of energy saving in Vietnam.
