On November 7, WWF-Vietnam and the French Development Agency (AFD) signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at protecting ecosystems, promoting sustainable development, and enhancing the resilience of vulnerable communities in Viet Nam.
This event follows the extension and expansion of the strategic cooperation agreement between AFD and WWF-France on October 11, 2025, reinforcing the long-term partnership between the two organizations. The new agreement reflects a shared vision for a sustainable future, where humans and nature thrive in harmony.
Under this program, AFD Vietnam and WWF-Vietnam will work closely to leverage combined resources, including finance, technical expertise, and development knowledge, strengthen AFD’s commitment to biodiversity conservation, and expand collaboration in ecosystem protection and the improvement of local livelihoods.

This memorandum of understanding will promote joint initiatives aligned with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Priority areas include biodiversity conservation and sustainable landscape finance; water resource management and ocean conservation; forest ecosystem restoration and sustainable forest management in line with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR); ecosystem-based adaptation and nature-based solutions; biodiversity restoration and fostering harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife.
The two parties will also expand cooperation into areas such as green energy, climate change adaptation, green finance, risk assessment, and sustainable supply chains, while remaining open to addressing emerging environmental challenges in the future.
The signing ceremony holds special significance as it coincides with WWF-Vietnam’s 30th anniversary, marking three decades of collaboration with the Vietnamese government, partners, and communities in biodiversity conservation. AFD is also celebrating 30 years of presence in Vietnam. The two parties reaffirm their long-term commitment to supporting the country’s sustainable development journey.
