In line with Directive No. 17 dated April 13, 2020, from the Prime Minister on strengthening state management of food safety, the Ministry has directed local authorities to promote the development of agricultural production zones, food production and business along certified value chains, traditional food craft villages, and safe agricultural wholesale markets.

The Ministry has also led efforts to develop safe agricultural, forestry, and aquaculture supply chains. To date, all 34 provinces and centrally-governed cities have implemented these models, resulting in over 2,000 supply chain value networks involving several major corporations.

Deputy Minister of Agricuture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam stated that the Ministry will continue reviewing and coordinating with other ministries to improve policies and legislation on quality management, ensuring food safety aligned with international standards, and creating a favorable environment for farmers and businesses to invest in high-quality agricultural production and business linked along value chains. Relevant legal documents, standards, and technical regulations will be issued according to plan.

The Ministry also plans to enhance the application of digital technologies and blockchain in food safety control. Food quality and safety objectives for agricultural, forestry, and aquaculture products will be integrated into strategies, planning, and socioeconomic development policies for the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in 2026 and for the 2026–2030 period.
