Selected as the host institution for APA 2027, Nha Trang University continues to affirm its position as one of Viet Nam’s leading centers for education and research in fisheries and marine sciences.
On June 8, Nha Trang University and the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) officially signed an agreement to organize the Asian-Pacific Aquaculture 2027 (APA 2027) conference. The event marks an important milestone as one of the largest international aquaculture conferences will be held in Viet Nam.

As a regional branch of WAS, the Asian-Pacific Chapter (WAS-APC) organizes major annual conferences attracting 700-1,000 participants, including scientists, industry representatives, policymakers, and international organizations. The conference is regarded as one of the region’s most influential platforms for academic exchange and industry networking in aquaculture.
Nha Trang University’s selection as host of APA 2027 reflects both its academic reputation and the international recognition of Viet Nam’s contributions to the fisheries sector. With nearly 70 years of development, the university is among the country’s leading institutions in fisheries, aquaculture, marine science and technology, and marine economics.

APA 2027 is scheduled to take place from September 7-10, 2027, at Nha Trang University in Khanh Hoa Province under the theme: “Green Aquaculture for a Sustainable Future: Tropical Innovation, Global Solutions.”
The conference will serve as a premier platform to showcase the latest scientific breakthroughs, innovative production models, and cutting-edge technologies to advance sustainable aquaculture worldwide.

The scientific program will feature a comprehensive range of subjects, including aquaculture production technologies, selective breeding and genetics, broodstock domestication and management, cage and offshore farming systems, aquatic animal health and disease management, feed technology, automation, seafood processing, and product quality enhancement.
The conference will also highlight emerging fields that are attracting growing global attention, such as recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), Biofloc technology, integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA), digital solutions for aquaculture management, the blue economy, marine economic development, water quality monitoring, and sustainable water resource management.

Beyond academic activities, APA 2027 will provide a dynamic forum for connecting scientific research with industry practice. An international trade exhibition featuring more than 130 booths will offer businesses an opportunity to showcase new technologies, equipment, products, and services. The event will also foster partnerships, facilitate technology transfer, and support the development of sustainable aquaculture value chains.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. Quach Hoai Nam, President of Nha Trang University, said APA 2027 would not only strengthen the university’s role in education, research, and technology transfer in fisheries, marine science and technology, and marine economics, but also promote the image of Viet Nam, its people, and the development potential of Khánh Hòa Province to the international community.
According to Dr. Nam, as the global fisheries sector faces mounting challenges from climate change and technological transformation, APA 2027 will provide a meaningful forum for sharing knowledge and identifying breakthrough solutions. The conference will create a broad platform connecting science and practice, accelerating technology transfer and supporting green, sustainable development across the sector.

“The signing agreement between WAS and Nha Trang University marks the official launch of preparations for APA 2027. It also represents a shared commitment to delivering a professional international conference with strong scientific and practical value, meeting the expectations of the regional and global aquaculture community,” Dr. Nam emphasized.
With a vision to become a highly ranked university in Viet Nam and a leading institution in Asia in selected fields of marine science, technology, and fisheries by 2045, Nha Trang University continues to expand international partnerships and enhance the quality of education and research.
