Representatives of the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association (VOAA) attended the International Conference on Women Farmers in India sharing Viet Nam’s experience in advancing organic agriculture.
From June 25 to 28, 2026, a delegation from the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association (VOAA) participated in the International Conference commemorating the International Year of Women Farmers, launched by the United Nations, under the theme "Recognizing Women Farmers: Driving Equity, Sustainability and Innovation". The event was held in Meghalaya, India.
The conference was jointly organized by IFOAM - Organics Asia, the Meghalaya Natural and Organic Farming Society for Livelihood and Innovation in Agriculture (MEGNOLIA), the Government of Meghalaya, and Cold Mountain Food Processing and Marketing Cooperative Ltd. The event brought together policymakers, international organizations, experts, businesses and farmer representatives from across the Asia-Pacific region.

The VOAA delegation included Ms. Tu Thi Tuyet Nhung, Member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, and Ms. Tran Thi Hoa, an officer of the Association.
At the conference, Ms. Tu Thi Tuyet Nhung delivered a presentation entitled "From Our Fields to Trust: Women Organic Farmers in Vietnam Building PGS Together". Her presentation highlighted Viet Nam’s experience in promoting women's roles in organic farming, developing Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS), and strengthening community collaboration to build consumer confidence in organic products.
One of the delegation’s most notable achievements was the organizing committee's selection of Ms. Tran Thi Hoa as one of four outstanding young representatives from participating countries to jointly announce the Shillong Declaration 2026. The declaration comprises eight key messages endorsed by delegates at the International Conference on Women Farmers and Sustainable Organic Agriculture, held to celebrate the International Year of Women Farmers.
According to VOAA, Ms. Tran Thi Hoa’s participation in announcing the Shillong Declaration 2026 was not only a personal honor but also reflected the international community’s recognition of Viet Nam’s contributions to promoting organic agriculture, gender equality, and sustainable agricultural development.

In addition to the conference sessions, VOAA showcased Vietnamese PGS-certified organic products at the shared exhibition booth of IFOAM - Organics Asia. The products attracted considerable interest from international delegates, helping promote the quality, value and stories behind Vietnamese farmers producing under the PGS system, while creating opportunities to strengthen connections with international markets.
According to VOAA, the conference provided an important opportunity for the Association to deepen cooperation with international organic organizations, exchange experiences in organic agriculture, gender equality and sustainable livelihoods, and further promote the image of Viet Nam’s organic agriculture on the global stage.
