Viet Nam, Israel strengthen cooperation in high-tech agriculture

On July 9, the Embassy of Viet Nam in Israel hosted the Viet Nam - Israel High-Tech Agriculture Connectivity Conference 2026 in a hybrid format, bringing together participants both in person and online.

The event was held to mark the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Israel. It aimed to strengthen connections among stakeholders, promote investment cooperation, facilitate technology transfer, and accelerate the adoption of advanced solutions for sustainable agricultural development.

Speaking at the conference, Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel Nguyen Ky Son said Viet Nam is accelerating the restructuring of its agricultural sector toward higher value-added production, sustainable development, and greater application of science and technology. In this context, Israel - with its strengths in innovation and advanced agricultural solutions - is a highly promising partner for Viet Nam.

According to the Ambassador, the conference provides an important opportunity for local authorities, businesses, and research institutions from both countries to exchange information, better understand practical needs, and expand future cooperation programmes.

Representing Israel's Ministry of Economy and Industry, Mr. Ofer Fohrer, Head of the Export and Investment Promotion Division under the Foreign Trade Administration, said there is substantial potential for expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and high-tech agriculture. Meanwhile, Vietnamese experts presented emerging applications of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and digital technologies in agriculture to improve productivity and management efficiency.

During the conference, Israeli companies and research organizations showcased a range of advanced technologies, including smart irrigation systems, greenhouse technologies, microbial solutions, high-quality crop varieties, post-harvest technologies, aquaculture innovations, and digital transformation solutions for agriculture.

Researchers from Ben-Gurion University and other Israeli research institutes also shared their latest findings on Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled irrigation systems, water-saving technologies, drought-, salinity-, and heat-tolerant crop varieties, plant breeding techniques, and climate adaptation solutions. In the aquaculture sector, experts introduced recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), submerged sea-cage farming, and other technologies designed to improve production efficiency.

On the Vietnamese side, representatives from local authorities, universities, and research institutes discussed the country's growing demand for high-tech agricultural solutions. They also proposed expanding cooperation in human resource development, scientific research, technology transfer, and pilot project implementation.

According to the organizers, the conference not only served as a platform connecting businesses, government agencies, and scientists from both countries, but also created new opportunities for research collaboration, investment, and technology transfer, contributing to the development of a modern, sustainable, and climate-resilient agricultural sector.
