VINACAS and the Interprofessional Cashew Organization of Senegal (ICAS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share industry insights and foster a sustainable cashew supply chain.

As part of the 15th Viet Nam International Cashew Conference 2026, held from October 26 to 28 at The Grand Ho Tram in Ho Chi Minh City, the Viet Nam Cashew Association (VINACAS) and Senegal’s Interprofessional Cashew Organization (ICAS) signed a MoU on cooperation.

Under the MoU, both parties agreed to establish short- and long-term cooperative relations aimed at promoting business development in their respective countries and creating a concrete framework for future collaboration.

Under the cooperation agreement, the 2 parties will exchange information on various aspects of the cashew industry, including relevant laws and regulations, cultivation practices, post-harvest technologies, processing, imports and exports, quality control, standardization, and reliable cashew exporters and importers.

The two organizations will work together to develop a sustainable and increasingly robust cashew supply chain. They will also introduce reputable exporters and importers to facilitate direct business connections and effective commercial transactions between their members.

In addition, the 2 sides will regularly organize exchange visits, meetings, and business-to-business (B2B) networking events for their members in Viet Nam and Senegal to expand business opportunities and strengthen trade relations.

Both organizations will support their members in cashew trading activities and work to resolve and minimize any business-related issues that may arise during commercial transactions between their members.

The 2 parties will also coordinate with regional and international cashew industry organizations, particularly in advocating for improved policies that support private sector development.

Viet Nam is currently the world's largest processor and exporter of cashew kernels. In 2025, the country's cashew industry exported approximately 798,000 tonnes of cashew kernels, generating more than USD 5.4 billion in export revenue - the highest level on record.

Meanwhile, Senegal is a major producer of raw cashew nuts in Africa, with an annual output of approximately 150,000 tonnes. Around 98% of its production is exported, with approximately 70% of those exports destined for Viet Nam.
