The UK stands ready to support Viet Nam in taking swift and large-scale action to achieve peak emissions by 2035

During his visit to Viet Nam, the Minister of State Graham Stuart will meet with representatives of the Government of Viet Nam at central and local levels to promote cooperation on net zero emissions.

The Minister of State reaffirmed the UK's willingness to continue providing technical assistance, expertise, partnerships and setting up an energy transition and climate change agenda for Viet Nam. Among them, the UK is one of the representatives of an international partnership group supporting the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) in Viet Nam.

Mr. Graham Stuart will visit Mui Ne Solar Power Plant and Mui Ne Wind Power Plants in Binh Thuan Province, including an 80MW renewable energy project invested by a British enterprise. He will also listen to project developers, investors and local leaders about the current green project development landscape in Viet Nam, as well as ways to remove barriers to the development of this area.

The Minister of State witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Crossrail International and the Ha Noi Urban Railway Management Board on digital transformation, and will attend the kick-off ceremony of phase II of the Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) in Viet Nam.

CFA is an approximately £12 million technical assistance program funded by the International Climate Finance (ICF), through the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. The CFA is part of the UK's effort to support large-scale climate action by providing practical options, helping governments in middle income countries deliver on their commitments under the Paris Agreement.
