On July 1, the Embassy of Argentina in Hanoi officially inaugurated its Office of Agricultural and Agro-Industrial Affairs. This is Argentina’s sixth specialized office worldwide, marking a significant step forward in strengthening trade cooperation between the two countries, especially in the agricultural sector.
At the event, Ambassador Marcos A. Bednarski emphasized that Vietnam is Argentina’s third-largest trading partner in Asia and seventh globally. In 2024, bilateral trade turnover reached USD 4 billion. Notably, in the first five months of 2025, Argentina’s exports to Vietnam increased by 40.4%, while Vietnam’s exports to Argentina soared by 243.6%.

The delegation also held trade promotion workshops and business meetings in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It included representatives from major food, beverage, and processed agriculture companies.
Vietnam is one of Argentina’s key partners in agricultural exports, particularly corn and soybean meal — essential inputs for the livestock industry. According to the Rosario Board of Trade (BCR), Vietnam accounts for up to 50% of Argentina’s corn and soybean meal exports to Southeast Asia.
The rapid economic growth of Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region strongly drives long-term demand for agricultural products. By 2034, Vietnam is projected to import around 6 million tons of corn and 1.7 million tons of soybean meal annually, accounting for 7% and 9% of global imports, respectively.
With the launch of the specialized agricultural office and extensive trade promotion activities, both countries expect to usher in a new era of deeper and more effective cooperation in agriculture and sustainable food value chains.
