The National Remote Sensing Department (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) said that in early 2022, it will build an additional station to receive ultra-high resolution optical and radar remote sensing data, on the basis of cooperation with India.

An ultra-high resolution optical and radar remote sensing data acquisition station from Indian satellites will be built at the National Remote Sensing Department, 79 Van Tien Dung, Bac Tu Liem district in early 2022.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Director General of the National Remote Sensing Department, in Viet Nam, the current ultra-high resolution remote sensing images are quite small in size, usually less than 20km. Therefore, using one type of satellite will face a lot of difficulties when performing missions over a large area and especially in emergency situations.

The development of satellites and remote sensing satellite beams with ultra high resolution is facing many difficulties because the cost of each satellite is quite expensive and our country does not have much experience in manufacturing and operating this type of satellite. Therefore, the feasible option in the current conditions is to upgrade the existing station or develop a new ground station system to collect ultra-high resolution remote sensing data from foreign satellites.

The construction of the above station in Ha Noi from Indian satellites also contributes to improving the capacity of the leadership, management staff and professional training for the technical staff of the National Remote Sensing Department in the near future.
