At noon on May 24, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh had a reception and working session with EREX Group Chairman Honna Hitoshi and Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Mr. Ito Naoki. The two sides discussed cooperation in the field of biomass power development and aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Minister Dang Quoc Khanh said that Viet Nam is in the process of implementing energy transition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but must also ensure energy security. It is known that EREX Group is an electricity manufacturer and supplier headquartered in Japan, a leader in the field of using biomass fuel burned in biomass power plants in Japan.

EREX Group has a lot of experience converting coal-fired power plants to biomass power plants in Japan with a number of initiatives such as the mechanism of burning biomass fuel together with coal fuel to adapt to the increasing demand for electricity consumption. Therefore, with many advantages of Viet Nam, Minister Dang Quoc Khanh wants the Group to exchange and share experiences so that Viet Nam can learn in the energy transition process.

At the meeting, Minister Dang Quoc Khanh, Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki and Chairman of EREX Group discussed the implementation of the Viet Nam - Japan Joint Committee Meeting to implement the Joint Credit Mechanism (JCM) in the upcoming time. Currently, Viet Nam and Japan are cooperating to implement the Joint Credit Mechanism (JCM), which is considered one of the mechanisms to concretize the orientation of the Paris Agreement, with great potential to become a global mechanism with a large network. The network of participating countries is growing. Through the meeting, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Japanese Embassy as well as EREX Group expect to have more effective cooperation activities, contributing to further deepening the relationship between the two countries, Viet Nam and Japan, especially in the field of natural resources and environment.
