From breeding stock to technology, Dong Nai’s livestock sector is seeking opportunities to work with US partners to access solutions that can support production.
At a meeting between the Agricultural Affairs Office of the US Embassy in Hanoi and the Dong Nai City Livestock Association on September 14, 2026, the two sides discussed a range of needs within the livestock sector, from raw materials and breeding stock to science and technology, digital transformation, production management and finance.

These are also areas where ties with US partners could be further developed.
Rather than focusing solely on trade, the association proposed exploring cooperation that combines product supply with the transfer of technology, technical expertise and management experience. Areas of interest include solutions for breeding, nutrition, animal housing, herd management, environmental control, biosecurity and waste treatment.
This approach aims to help businesses and farms gain more integrated access to production solutions while gradually strengthening their operational and management capacity.
Notably, digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) have been identified as areas for further exploration. In livestock production, data on animal herds, growth rates, feed consumption, temperature, humidity, air quality and unusual signs can be used to support production management.
The Dong Nai City Livestock Association is also interested in combining technology with training, research and technology transfer, as the effectiveness of these solutions depends not only on equipment but also on data and the capacity of businesses and farms to operate them.
In addition to breeding stock and technology, the two sides also discussed financing for production investment. Modernizing the livestock sector requires resources for breeding stock, animal housing, equipment, technology and environmental treatment.
At the meeting, the two sides also discussed the US GSM-102 agricultural export credit guarantee programme and the potential for future cooperation.
The US side took note of the proposals put forward by the Dong Nai City Livestock Association. Both sides agreed to continue discussions and help connect businesses with suitable partners in specific areas.
In the coming period, the two sides will identify priority areas, assess demand and organize technical exchanges. For AI and other emerging technologies, suitable solutions could be further studied and tested before being deployed more widely.
