Vietnam is constantly making efforts to respond to climate change

At the Climate Summit 2025 held on the afternoon of September 24 (local time) at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the United States, President Luong Cuong said that countries need to fully and promptly implement their commitments on climate finance.

Speaking at the Conference, President Luong Cuong emphasized that as one of the countries most heavily affected by climate change, Vietnam is clearly aware of and steadfast in its goal of sustainable development, harmonizing economic growth, environmental protection, and climate change response, constantly improving institutions and policies, creating a synchronous legal corridor for green transformation, equitable transformation, adaptation to climate change, resolutely implementing committed goals, and enhancing capacity and resilience for vulnerable areas and people.

President Luong Cuong emphasized that the international community needs to promote more strongly and substantially the transfer of advanced, clean and efficient technology to serve the development of green economy and circular economy.

To overcome the challenges of climate change together, the President said that countries need to fully and promptly implement commitments on climate finance, especially resources for a just transition, linked to ensuring social security, creating jobs, and supporting workers and vulnerable communities.

To help developing countries narrow the gap, the President called on the international community to promote more strongly and substantially the transfer of advanced, clean and efficient technology to serve the development of green and circular economies.

The President stressed that the United Nations needs to continue to promote its central role in promoting solidarity, cooperation, building trust, ensuring fairness and justice, and realizing the goals of the Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement on the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities.

Developed countries need to take the lead in making strong commitments to reducing emissions, contributing finance and technology, initiating and spreading new initiatives and solutions, dialogue, connecting countries, businesses, social organizations and people globally to join in action.
