Launch of a data journalism site on Net Zero

On October 14, in Hanoi, Nhan Dan Newspaper in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment launched the "Net Zero Vietnam" page at https://netzero.nhandan.vn, marking a new step forward in the effort to accompany the Government, businesses and people to realize the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, said that the "Net Zero Vietnam" page is not only a place to provide updated information but also has a countdown of important milestones in the roadmap to realizing Vietnam's Net Zero commitment.

“Net Zero Vietnam” is a carefully constructed product that strongly applies digital data, demonstrating the direction of future journalism, where information is scientifically organized, intuitive and useful, contributing to spreading awareness and encouraging action for a green and sustainable Vietnam.

At the ceremony, Acting Minister Tran Duc Thang emphasized that the launch of the Net Zero Vietnam Information Page today marks an important step forward in knowledge management and coordination of national actions on green transformation. This will be a knowledge and connection platform to disseminate policies, update implementation progress and share typical models and initiatives; a forum for scientists, managers, businesses and people to contribute initiatives on "Economic Development - Environmental Protection - Social Prosperity", propose solutions and act together for the common goal: Sustainable development of the country - for a green Vietnam, in harmony with nature.

This opening event also marks the beginning of a journey to connect awareness - inspire trust - spread responsibility, making the Net Zero 2050 goal a vivid reality in every industry, every business, and every Vietnamese person.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will continue to closely coordinate with Nhan Dan Newspaper, media agencies, domestic and foreign partners, to spread the meaning of the net zero target to all citizens, organizations and businesses to join and contribute to the Net Zero 2050 cause.

The “Net Zero Vietnam” website is a lively and attractive online data journalism channel, providing authentic, scientific and easily accessible information to raise public awareness of the goal of zero net emissions (Net Zero). The website includes the following contents: Harmful effects of the greenhouse effect caused by humans; measures to reduce emissions and remove CO₂ from the atmosphere; discussion on improving the legal framework and policies to support Net Zero; information and promotion of effective models and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing Vietnam's climate goals and solutions to overcome them.

The “Net Zero Vietnam” website includes 8 sections, including 5 in-depth content sections and 3 support sections to increase interaction with readers. The in-depth sections include “Legal Framework”, “Actions and Challenges”, “Experience – Good Models”, “World”, “Green Enterprises” and the support sections include “Net Zero Handbook”, “Expert Opinions”, “Multimedia”.

The highlight of the site is the interactive game “Your Carbon Footprint”. This is a tool that allows users to estimate the amount of greenhouse gas emissions each month, based on a set of questions designed according to the greenhouse gas inventory method established by leading experts.
