Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Hung has instructed relevant agencies to strengthen coordination and accelerate preparations to ensure Viet Nam's effective participation in GREEN EXPO 2027.
Following the first meeting of the Organizing Committee for implementing Viet Nam's participation plan in the GREEN EXPO 2027, held on July 20, Deputy Minister Vo Van Hung, who also serves as Head of the Organizing Committee, concluded the meeting by assigning a number of key tasks to ensure preparations are carried out in a coordinated and timely manner.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that Viet Nam's participation in GREEN EXPO 2027 in Yokohama, Japan, is an important diplomatic mission. It will help promote the country's image, encourage trade, investment, science and technology cooperation, and further strengthen the Viet Nam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Photo: Nguyen Thuy.As this is a cross-sector initiative that will be implemented over an extended period in both Viet Nam and Japan, Deputy Minister Vo Van Hung requested members of the Organizing Committee and the Working Group to work closely together and carry out their tasks in a coordinated manner, ensuring progress, quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
He also asked all participating agencies to stay focused on their assigned responsibilities, minimize unnecessary administrative procedures, meetings and reporting requirements, and promptly report any issues beyond their authority for further guidance and decision-making.
Regarding the implementation plan, the Deputy Minister endorsed the proposed overall direction, key tasks and implementation schedule. The Agricultural Trade Promotion Center was assigned to lead the development of the master implementation plan, the overall event scenario, and the detailed task allocation, in close coordination with relevant agencies.
Task assignments must clearly identify the lead agency, coordinating agencies, expected deliverables, deadlines, and responsibilities of each unit to avoid overlaps or omissions.
One of the Deputy Minister's key priorities is organizing Viet Nam National Day at GREEN EXPO 2027. He stressed that the event will serve as the centerpiece of Viet Nam's participation, showcasing the country's image while strengthening diplomacy, cultural exchange, communications and trade promotion.
The Organizing Committee agreed to prioritize holding Viet Nam National Day on September 2, 2027, to coincide with the country's National Day. If the Japanese organizers are unable to accommodate this date, the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center will work with the Department of International Cooperation to discuss alternatives with the GREEN EXPO 2027 Organizing Committee, including September 1 or another suitable date, before submitting the proposal to the Head of the Organizing Committee for approval.
The Deputy Minister requested that the National Day program integrate official ceremonies with high-level diplomatic activities, cultural performances and national branding initiatives. It should also be linked with forums, conferences, trade and investment promotion events, and business networking activities to maximize outreach while remaining practical and appropriate to both the host country's conditions and Viet Nam's available resources.

Photo: GREEN EXPO.For the Viet Nam Pavilion, the Deputy Minister instructed relevant agencies to continue discussions with the Japanese side on the possibility of expanding the exhibition space, while proceeding with the current plan for an exhibition area of approximately 25 square meters to stay on schedule.
The pavilion should present a concise, modern and engaging exhibition built around a clear storyline and consistent message, highlighting Viet Nam as a responsible nation committed to ensuring food security, promoting green agriculture, protecting the environment and advancing sustainable development.
The exhibition will focus on green agriculture, agricultural products, OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, traditional craft villages, the circular economy and environmental protection initiatives. It will also make greater use of digital technologies, including 3D exhibitions, QR codes and interactive digital features to enhance visitor engagement and promotional effectiveness.
The Deputy Minister also agreed that exhibition space should not be allocated equally among ministries, sectors or localities. Instead, all exhibits should be selected and integrated around common themes and national messages to ensure consistency and maximize their overall impact.
In addition to the physical exhibition, the Deputy Minister endorsed the development of a virtual exhibition and digital ecosystem as an official component of Viet Nam's participation.
The digital platform will be developed in Vietnamese, English and Japanese. It will support communications, trade promotion, and business matchmaking, while also serving as a digital knowledge repository that can be used after GREEN EXPO 2027 concludes.
The Agricultural Trade Promotion Center has been tasked with preparing a preliminary proposal for the digital ecosystem by September 2026 for submission to the Organizing Committee.
