Uganda will organize trade and investment promotion activities for achieving USD 500 billion GDP by 2040.
From August 9 to 13, the Uganda High Commission in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), in collaboration with Uganda's ministries, government agencies responsible for investment, trade and tourism promotion, and the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), will organize the Uganda Business Forum and Expo - Viet Nam Chapter under the theme: "Uganda - The Pearl of Africa: Gateway to Africa."
At a recent meeting with VCCI Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh, Ugandan Ambassador to Viet Nam Betty Bigombe emphasized that the forum would serve as a platform to transform the long-standing friendship between Uganda and Viet Nam into concrete opportunities for trade and investment cooperation.

Photo: VCCI.The Ugandan delegation in Kuala Lumpur aims to expand export markets, attract foreign direct investment (FDI), and contribute to the country's ambition of increasing the size of its economy tenfold to achieve a GDP of USD 500 billion by 2040. The strategy also seeks to strengthen bilateral relations between Uganda and Viet Nam while positioning Uganda as the leading gateway for Viet Namese businesses seeking access to African markets.
The Ambassador stated: "With Viet Nam's industrial strengths and Uganda's abundant natural resources, competitively priced workforce, and strategic access to African markets, we have a unique opportunity to build partnerships that create jobs and shared prosperity."
VCCI reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with all relevant partners to finalize the event agenda, ensuring seamless coordination among policy dialogue sessions, site visits, and business matchmaking activities.
More than 300 delegates are expected to attend the event, including government delegations from Uganda and Viet Nam, business leaders and investors from Viet Nam's leading corporations, representatives of Uganda's private sector, the Ugandan diaspora, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), financial institutions, and development partners. The program will feature thematic sessions on Uganda's business and investment environment, opportunities arising from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) for Asian enterprises, agricultural industrialization, and value addition.
