On May 12, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien held a working session with Mr. Mo Shenfan, CEO of BSV Group (China), Ms. Zhang Mengying, General Director of Guangdong Yikang Group, and their delegation.
During the meeting, both sides had in-depth discussions on ways to strengthen trade cooperation and develop agricultural and health products between Vietnam and China. Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien and representatives from relevant units introduced Vietnam’s recent agrarian exports, such as rice, Bac Giang lychee, and chili, affirming that Vietnam continuously improves quality control, ensures food safety, and accelerates customs clearance to facilitate exports.

Notably, during the official visit of Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to Vietnam in April, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment signed a series of key protocols aimed at expanding the export of agricultural products such as chili, passion fruit, bird’s nest, and rice bran to the Chinese market. In addition, bilateral agreements on environmental protection and geoscience cooperation were concluded, signaling a broader strategic partnership. The Deputy Minister also provided updates on implementing the Vietnam – China Smart Border Gate, a pivotal initiative expected to unlock significant potential for agricultural trade, particularly for high-demand products like durian.
The Chinese delegation, led by Mr. Mo Shenfan, shared that trade transactions between the two countries have seen strong growth in recent years. He expressed great interest in importing and developing Vietnamese agricultural products such as durian, coconut, pomelo, giant freshwater prawn, babylon snail, bird’s nest, and sliced cassava. These products are considered high-quality and well-suited to Chinese consumer preferences, with growing popularity.
In particular, Chinese businesses are firmly committed to promoting Vietnamese bird’s nests and durian – two products with great potential in the Chinese market. Mr. Mo Shenfan expressed his desire to significantly increase import volumes, citing excellent product quality and positive consumer response.
At the end of the meeting, both sides pledged to work closely together to promptly address any challenges and propose practical solutions for enhancing cooperation.
