Viet Nam, Laos groups and individuals honored at 2026 meeting

The 2026 Ministerial Meeting between Viet Nam and Laos' Ministries of Agriculture and Environment honored key contributors to bilateral cooperation.

In recent years, the cooperative relationship between the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, as well as between the two Ministries and relevant agencies of both countries, has been continuously consolidated and developed. This increasingly close coordination has actively contributed to cultivating the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples of Viet Nam and Laos.

With the attention and facilitation of the Ministers and the leadership teams of both Ministries, many collectives and individuals from both countries have made outstanding contributions, helping to promote bilateral cooperation to become increasingly profound and achieve many practical results.

On the occasion of the 2026 Ministerial Meeting between the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the two Ministers decided to award Commemorative Medals and Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with excellent achievements in the cooperation process.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment presented forms of commendation to collectives and individuals of the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. Notably, Minister Trinh Viet Hung awarded a Commemorative Medal to Minister Linkham Douangsavanh for his immense contributions to strengthening Viet Nam - Laos relations in the agricultural and environmental sectors.

Following that, Minister Trinh Viet Hung awarded a Commemorative Medal to Dr. Boundeth Southavilay, Director of the Department of Planning and Cooperation; and concurrently presented Certificates of Merit to seven collectives under the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, including: the Department of Planning and Cooperation; the Department of Irrigation; the Department of Crop Production; the Department of Forestry; the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Inspectorate; the Department of Land Management and Development; and the Department of Livestock and Fisheries.

On the Lao side, Minister Linkham Douangsavanh presented the Certificate of Merit from the Lao Minister of Agriculture and Environment to one collective and three individuals of the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Representing the commended collective was Mr. Tran Viet Ha, Deputy Director General of the International Cooperation Department, who received the Certificate of Merit on behalf of the International Cooperation Department.

The three individuals awarded Certificates of Merit included Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Linh, Chief of the Viet Nam Mekong River Commission Office; Ms. Nguyen Thanh Thao, Head of the Science and International Cooperation Office, Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam; and Mr. Can Van Toan, official of the International Cooperation Department.

The 2026 Ministerial Meeting between the two Ministries concluded with many positive results. This is an important milestone, further affirming the positive development in the cooperative relationship between the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. The contents agreed upon by the two Ministers at the meeting will serve as crucial orientations for cooperation between the two Ministries in the 2026 - 2028 period and subsequent years.
