The Government of Viet Nam has decided to use the phone number 112 to receive information on incidents, natural disasters, catastrophes, potential risks, and requests for assistance from organizations and individuals nationwide.
Hotline 112 will receive such information and will be operated by provincial Military Commands, the Hanoi Capital Command, and the Ho Chi Minh City Command (collectively referred to as provincial-level Military Commands).
The 112 system will receive information from: organizations and individuals; hotlines 113, 114, 115; and other communication systems serving civil defence.
The information received will include: name of the reporting individual or organization; time and place of the incident or disaster; developments, scope of impact, potential spread; requests for assistance; and other necessary information for response and recovery.
The Ministry of National Defence is the managing authority responsible for operating and ensuring the system functions. The 112 system will be located at the Office of the National Civil Defence Steering Committee and at provincial Military Commands.
Telecommunications enterprises and information handlers must ensure data confidentiality for calls, messages, multimedia, and personal data of callers. Personal data may only be stored during the processing period and must comply with data protection regulations.
Hotline 112 is toll-free for all calls nationwide related to incidents, natural disasters, catastrophes, risks, and requests for assistance.
