Nearly 700 kg of waste collected in Ho Chi Minh City

On the morning of September 20, 2026, the "World Cleanup Day 2026" campaign in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) officially took place in the Linh Xuan Ward area. The event attracted the active participation of hundreds of volunteers, aiming to raise community awareness, prevent plastic waste right at the source, and promote circular economy models for a sustainable urban area.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Tu, National Coordinator of Let’s Do It Vietnam and World Cleanup Day in Viet Nam, shared, "World Cleanup Day is a global movement connecting millions of people to act together for a common goal, which is a world free of waste left in the environment. And today, HCMC is also joining hands with many other provinces and cities nationwide, as part of Let’s Do It Vietnam's activities, responding to the campaign with very concrete actions".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Tu emphasized, "The value of World Cleanup Day does not just lie in how many kilograms of waste we collect today. What's more important is that after participating, everyone will view the waste issue a bit differently, perhaps changing their small habits and potentially inspiring more people so that everyone can take action together".

Ms. Le Kim Qui, Deputy Head of the Sustainable Environmental Development Department at Hirdaramani Vietnam - FGL, stated that environmental conservation is one of the core pillars in the Hirdaramani Group's sustainable development roadmap for the future. This demonstrates the company's commitment to protecting the environment through its operational methods, resource utilization, and ecological impact control.

"We understand that environmental actions are only truly meaningful when built upon visionary strategies down to small daily choices. Sometimes, positive and meaningful changes begin with extremely simple acts such as picking up a piece of trash, sorting waste properly, or minimizing the use of single-use items. Today, each bag of waste collected not only helps make our living space cleaner and more beautiful but also spreads a powerful message about the community's sense of responsibility and solidarity".

At the cleanup site, volunteers received detailed instructions on safety and waste sorting techniques before proceeding with the collection. As a result, the event in HCMC attracted over 150 volunteers, collecting a total of nearly 700 kg of waste, the majority of which was domestic plastic waste and single-use plastic packaging.

Volunteer Le Thi Xuan Thanh shared: "What impressed me most about today's festival is that not only college students participated together, but young children accompanying their families also enthusiastically responded. Watching the little kids pick up each piece of trash, excitedly practicing how to identify and sort plastics, I feel this activity is truly profoundly meaningful. It gives me faith that environmental protection awareness is being passed down through generations, starting from the smallest actions at home".

Alongside the location in HCMC, the World Cleanup Day 2026 campaign was also organized concurrently by Let’s Do It Vietnam in many provinces and cities across the country, such as Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri, Binh Thuan and Can Tho. In total, over 10,000 volunteers across 22 provinces and cities participated, joining hands for a waste-free Viet Nam.
