In the first 8 months of 2025, Vietnam's agricultural exports reached more than 45 billion USD, up 12% over the same period last year. This is an impressive figure in the context of many fluctuations in the world economy, showing that Vietnamese agricultural products are increasingly asserting their position on the global trade map.

Asia remains the largest market, accounting for more than 43% of the market share, but the highlight is the breakthrough growth in many other regions: exports to Europe increased by nearly 39%, to Japan by nearly 20% and to Africa by more than double. The United States still maintains its leading position, accounting for nearly 21% of the market share, followed by China and Japan.

In this growth picture, China has emerged as a key market, both rich in potential and demanding in terms of quality. Grasping this trend, many localities, enterprises and cooperatives are promoting investment in production according to international standards, transparent supply chains, and aiming for official exports.

Fresh passion fruit, a promising export item of Vietnam

In Gia Lai is a land with strengths in industrial crops and tropical fruits, implemented a series of trade promotion activities. The conference on promoting agricultural exports to China held in early 2025 has created a bridge for businesses of the two countries to cooperate more deeply. The province also focuses on investing in logistics infrastructure, encouraging the application of high-tech agriculture associated with deep processing, thereby increasing product value.

Notably, many cooperatives in Gia Lai have been granted growing area codes, meeting traceability and food safety standards. Thanks to that, in just the first 8 months of the year, nearly 900 tons of fresh passion fruit were officially exported to China. At the same time, coffee enterprises such as Vinh Hiep are shifting strongly to deep processing, with a target of reaching 1 billion USD in turnover this year.

These efforts not only help Gia Lai agricultural products, but also pave the way for agricultural products across the country to access demanding markets. Transparency in the production chain, quality assurance and traceability become the “golden keys” to enhancing competitiveness.

In the context of increasing demand for high-quality agricultural products, official exports to China and strong expansion in the European, American, Japanese and African markets are opening up great opportunities for breakthroughs. With diverse land and climate potential and the shift to a sustainable production model, Vietnamese agricultural products have all the advantages to become one of the world's important suppliers.
