The 23rd Asian Water Council Summit in 2025 is scheduled to take place in Hanoi on November 5-6. The event was chaired by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with VWEA, the Asian Water Council, and the Northern Water Resources Planning and Investigation Federation.

This conference has the theme: “Sustainable water resources management, digital transformation and investment cooperation for the future”. This is considered an important international event in the field of water resources, contributing to promoting regional cooperation, sharing experiences and promoting the image of Vietnam as a proactive and active country in initiatives to manage, plan and protect water resources.

The success of the Conference will be an important premise for Vietnam to continue affirming its role in regional water forums, towards the 5th AWC General Assembly in 2026 and the 4th Asia International Water Week (AIWW) in 2027.

According to Mr. Chu Pham Ngoc Hien, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Clean Water and Environment, the 23rd AWC Council Conference is expected to have the participation of about 200 delegates, including 80 international delegates including leaders of water management agencies and enterprises from AWC member countries. Along with that, technology exchange activities between Vietnamese and Korean enterprises, along with a series of side events such as bilateral meetings, business connection forums (B2B, B2G), technology exhibitions and foreign cultural exchanges.

To prepare for the Conference, on October 14, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep had a working session with the Vietnam Water and Environment Association (VWEA).

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep highly appreciated the role of the Asian Water Council in recent times. He emphasized that the Council has operated systematically and effectively, making an important contribution to the work of propaganda, monitoring and promoting international cooperation on water and environment. "It is expected that the 23rd AWC Meeting will be effective, the content of the discussion will need to be carefully prepared to have specific results, making practical contributions to the work of water resources management and environmental protection," said Deputy Minister Hiep.

He also suggested that the Organizing Committee focus on two main goals: ensuring the participation of localities, businesses and social organizations in the field; emphasizing practical topics such as international experience in irrigation, dike building, flood prevention, river basin management and disaster early warning systems.

The Asia Water Council (AWC) is an inter-governmental cooperation organization that was officially launched in 2016 in Korea, under the chairmanship of the Korean Ministry of Environment and K-water. With the mission of promoting solutions to water problems in Asia, AWC plays an important role as a bridge between the region and global forums, especially within the framework of the World Water Forum.
