Dialogue and connecting resources for green transition

The forum is scheduled for June 11-12, 2026, looking toward the celebration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2026. Under the theme "Viet Nam concretizes the path to Net Zero", the event will feature a diverse series of activities. These include in-depth panel discussions on energy and the environment; an evaluation and awarding program for "Sustainable green energy and environment in Viet Nam" initiatives; and the "Green Path - Viet Nam Net Zero" exhibition.

The forum will be an opportunity for the business community, domestic and international organizations along with ministries, sectors and localities to dialogue directly, jointly discussing achievements and policy gaps in implementing emission reduction commitments. Thereby, it aims to enhance corporate business operations, contributing to promoting green growth and sustainable development.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of VCCI and Chairman of VBCSD, for a developing economy heavily impacted by climate change while setting goals for rapid and sustainable growth like Viet Nam, green transition and energy shift are not only urgent requirements but also opportunities to enhance competitiveness, attract investment and create new growth momentum.

"Recently, the national policy and strategy system on green growth, energy and climate change adaptation has been increasingly perfected. Many ministries, sectors and localities have proactively issued emission reduction plans. The Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and international cooperation initiatives are opening up opportunities to mobilize financial and technological resources", Mr. Vinh shared.

However, according to the VBCSD Chairman, "bottlenecks" still exist such as limited investment capital, core technologies not meeting requirements, a lack of synchronization in the emission measurement - monitoring system and limited local implementation capacity. Notably, the participation of the private sector needs to be promoted much more strongly.

Forming an ecosystem to support sustainable energy transition

In the role of co-organizer, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Chairwoman of WEC-VN, stated that the "World Energy and Environment - Viet Nam 2026" forum aims to bring international standards and tools into domestic practice, supporting businesses in building an effective and suitable energy transition roadmap.

At the same time, the event will contribute to forming a long-term connection mechanism between outstanding initiatives and businesses with an ecosystem of experts, climate funds, sponsors and green technical - financial support programs. Along with that, it will form a continuous connection mechanism between award-winning units and an ecosystem of experts, sponsors, climate funds, international organizations and green technical - financial support programs.

"Currently, the program is receiving many positive responses and companionship from localities through confirming participation, simultaneously nominating outstanding businesses and individuals in implementing the green transition for exhibition, evaluation and awarding activities," the WEC-VN Chairwoman shared.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Tien Huy, Secretary General of VBCSD, stated that Resolution 70-NQ/TW of the Politburo clearly defined the goal of building a modern, sustainable, diverse and highly resilient national energy system, meeting development requirements up to 2030 with a vision to 2045.

According to him, businesses are the central force in realizing these goals. From investment decisions and technology choices to operating methods, every business plays a direct role in ensuring national energy security.

"The State plays a constructive role, perfecting institutions, creating a transparent and stable investment environment and encouraging innovation. But it is the businesses that are the acting force, those who turn policies into value, turning vision into concrete results," Mr. Huy emphasized.

Not stopping at production and business activities, enterprises are also the subjects shaping the energy future through technological innovation, investing in low-emission solutions and improving energy use efficiency.

In that context, the journey toward Net Zero is not only a challenge but also opens up opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to affirm their pioneering role in a green, sustainable and autonomous economy.
