Viet Nam and Brunei sign key MOUs on fisheries and IUU
During the State visit to Viet Nam by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam from November 30 to December 2, 2025, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang held talks with Dato Dr. Abdul Manaf Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism of Brunei Darussalam. At the meeting, the two sides signed two important Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), opening up new avenues for cooperation between the two ministries.
Towards sustainable, responsible, and environmentally friendly fisheries development
On November 26 in Hanoi, the 2025 Conference on Environmental Protection in Fisheries was held under the coordination of the Directorate of Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Embassy of Canada in Viet Nam.
Viet Nam to develop annual notifications on fisheries management mechanisms
According to the Government’s newly approved Implementation Plan for the Protocol Amending the Marrakesh Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization on the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies (2022), issued under Decision No. 2496/QD-TTg, Viet Nam will prepare its first notification and annual notifications on fisheries management mechanisms. These will cover fish stock levels, the IUU list, conservation measures, and support programs for the marine capture fisheries sector.
