Preparations are nearing completion for the National Exhibition of Achievements, held to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025). The pavilion dedicated to agriculture and environment promises to present a comprehensive portrait of the sector’s journey—from ensuring national food security to securing Vietnam’s place on the global agricultural map.

On August 27, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh, Head of the Steering Committee for the exhibition, together with Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien, inspected the final preparations at the National Exhibition and Fair Center in Dong Anh, Hanoi.

Experiencing the tea culture space at the exhibition, the Deputy Prime Minister praised the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for its meticulous preparation. He said the exhibits, data, and products vividly showcase the sector’s robust growth—from safeguarding food supplies and livelihoods to affirming Vietnam’s standing on the international stage.

Each displayed product not only highlights a milestone but also tells the story of tireless dedication and innovation by millions of farmers, scientists, and enterprises. This, he emphasized, is a unique feature that illustrates the pivotal role of agriculture and environment throughout Vietnam’s 80-year nation-building journey.

The exhibition, themed “80 Years of Independence – Freedom – Happiness”, has now been largely completed. It consists of two main areas: an indoor exhibition hall with nine thematic galleries and an expansive outdoor space divided into four zones—East, West, South, and North. Hall 1, under the theme “Moving Forward in a New Era”, is dedicated to agriculture and environment, tracing the sector’s trajectory from wartime hardships and a subsidized economy to the reform era and global integration.

Featured prominently are Vietnam’s billion-dollar export staples, including Buon Ma Thuot coffee, Mekong Delta rice, tropical fruits, pepper, rubber, wood and timber products, as well as seafood such as shrimp and pangasius. The exhibition also showcases the latest advances in science and technology, ranging from meteorological monitoring and greenhouse gas surveillance to irrigation exploration—highlighting how the sector has entered a high-tech era on par with global standards.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien noted that the exhibition captures the sector’s most remarkable achievements over eight decades. From a time of widespread hunger, Vietnam has not only secured food for more than 100 million citizens but also become one of the world’s leading agricultural exporters. In 2024, the sector’s export turnover reached USD 62.5 billion, including USD 17.9 billion from forestry.

He stressed that the exhibition must reflect both the proud legacy of the past 80 years and the sector’s new advances to meet the demands of the modern era. The displays also highlight agriculture and environment as central to sustainable development—with crop cultivation accounting for over 40% of sector value, fisheries contributing about 28%, livestock generating USD 35 billion, and forestry maintaining a forest coverage rate of more than 42%.

The National Exhibition of Achievements will be open free of charge from August 28 to September 5, welcoming visitors daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Beyond commemorating eight decades of nation-building, the event underscores the pivotal role and stature of Vietnam’s agriculture and environment sector in the new era.
