After one hour of turning off lights on March 28, 2026, Viet Nam saved 463,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to approximately 1.02 billion VND.

In response to the 2026 Earth Hour Campaign launched by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Viet Nam Electricity (EVN) actively coordinated and synchronously implemented nationwide communication, advocacy, and organization activities. This contributed to the powerful spread of the message of economical, efficient energy use and environmental protection.

With the message "Green Innovation – Green Future," the 2026 Earth Hour campaign continues to emphasize the role of innovation in energy use, aiming for green transition and sustainable development.

Notably, EVN and its member units proactively launched various communication activities across digital platforms, including websites, social networks, and customer care applications. Simultaneously, they enhanced direct communication in communities, agencies, and businesses to raise awareness and promote electricity-saving behaviors.

EVN also requested Power Corporations and Power Companies across provinces and cities to step up propaganda on electricity conservation and environmental protection at customer transaction points and at unit headquarters. Concurrently, they mobilized organizations, agencies, and customers to respond to the campaign by turning off unnecessary lights and electrical equipment from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

According to data from the National Power System and Market Operator (NSMO), after 1 hour of turning off lights for Earth Hour 2026 (from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on March 28, 2026), the country saved 463,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to approximately 1.02 billion VND.

This result continues to affirm the spreading effectiveness of the Earth Hour Campaign in Viet Nam, which is not just a symbolic event but has gradually translated awareness into concrete actions within the community.

Over many years of implementation, the campaign has helped form habits of economical and efficient energy use, while raising awareness of environmental protection and climate change response.

Earth Hour is an annual global event initiated in 2007, which has so far attracted the participation of nearly 200 countries and territories. In Viet Nam, the program is co-chaired by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), with the response of 34 provinces and cities along with a large number of people from all walks of life.

EVN actively coordinated and synchronously implemented nationwide communication, advocacy and organization activities, contributing to powerfully spreading the message of economical and efficient energy use and environmental protection.
