The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment reported that, compared to the same period in 2024, the growth rate of value added in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (AFF) in Q3/2025 reached 3.74%, contributing 5.04% to the overall economic growth; for the first nine months of 2025, it reached 3.83%, contributing 5.36% to the total economic value added.
Export turnover of AFF in Q3/2025 reached 18.47 billion USD, bringing the total export turnover for the first nine months of 2025 to 52.31 billion USD - up 14% compared to the same period last year and 8.7% above the nine-month target of 48.14 billion USD.
Among these, agricultural exports reached 28.51 billion USD, up 16.8%; livestock products reached 447.5 million USD, up 18.6%; fisheries reached 8.12 billion USD, up 12.3%; and forestry products exceeded 13.41 billion USD, up 7.4%.
Agricultural, forestry, and fisheries exports continued to brighten in Q3/2025. Total imports in the first nine months of 2025 reached 36.38 billion USD, up 12.5% compared to the same period in 2024. Specifically, agricultural imports reached over 22.38 billion USD, up 11.5%; livestock products over 3.3 billion USD, up 22.1%; fisheries over 2.37 billion USD, up 27.2%; forestry products over 2.4 billion USD, up 16.2%; production inputs over 5.9 billion USD, up 5.4%; and salt imports reached 25.7 million USD, up 0.6%.
As a result, the trade balance of the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector in the first nine months of 2025 is estimated to have a surplus of 15.93 billion USD, up 17.6% compared to the same period in 2024, accounting for 92.8% of the national trade surplus of 17.16 billion USD. This is a positive signal, especially given that production has faced market fluctuations and unusual natural disasters.
These results were achieved thanks to timely measures implemented by functional agencies and local authorities to respond to and mitigate the effects of natural disasters and epidemics, as well as support for people to stabilize production. Consequently, the country’s agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production in Q3 and the first nine months of 2025 remained stable, meeting domestic consumption needs and supporting processing and exports.
Perennial crop output was relatively strong compared to the same period last year, and poultry farming developed well. Forest planting and timber harvesting proceeded according to planned targets. Although fisheries production was affected by storms and heavy rain in some northern provinces during Q3, enhanced aquaculture with high-tech applications and stable selling prices ensured profitability, allowing overall fisheries activity in the nine months to maintain good growth.
