Viet Nam continues to accompany Cuba in ensuring food security, transferring agricultural technologies, promoting sustainable agricultural development.

On June 25, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Trinh Viet Hung received and held a working session with Mr. Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Viet Nam.

At the meeting, Minister Trinh Viet Hung welcomed Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes on his visit and working session with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and expressed sympathy for the difficulties and challenges currently facing Cuba.

The Minister expressed confidence that, with the efforts and determination of the Communist Party, State, and people of Cuba, the country will overcome current obstacles and gradually recover and develop its economy.

Reaffirming the long-standing traditional friendship, special solidarity, and mutual trust between the two countries, Minister Trinh Viet Hung emphasized that agricultural cooperation has always been one of the key pillars of Viet Nam - Cuba relations. Viet Nam highly values its cooperation with Cuba and stands ready to share experiences from its agricultural renovation process, while accompanying Cuba in ensuring food security and promoting sustainable agricultural development.

At the working session, the two sides focused discussions on cooperation in agriculture, including food support programs, technology transfer, the implementation of agricultural and fisheries production projects, as well as enhanced technical and human resource assistance.

Based on proposals put forward by Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes regarding food security, Viet Nam reaffirmed its commitment to accompanying Cuba, particularly in the rice sector, to help meet food demand and overcome current difficulties.

In the field of production development cooperation, the two sides discussed agricultural technology transfer projects, support for machinery and equipment, and technical solutions for production. A range of cooperation activities related to agricultural development and agricultural commodities continue to be promoted in line with the directions agreed upon by the two countries.

The working session also reaffirmed the determination of both sides to further strengthen close cooperation based on the guidance of the two Parties and two States. Viet Nam expressed its readiness to support Cuba by sharing agricultural technologies, providing machinery and equipment, dispatching technical experts, and implementing practical cooperation programs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides affirmed that they will continue to implement cooperation programs and projects in line with the orientations of the two Parties and two States. They will also explore new initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of agricultural cooperation, thereby strengthening the special friendship between Viet Nam and Cuba, ensuring food security, and promoting sustainable development in each country.

Vietnamese enterprises are investing in Cuba's agricultural sector, contributing to increased agricultural production and ensuring food security for the country. At the same time, they expressed their desire for Vietnamese agricultural businesses to further expand investment in Cuba, not only in rice production but also in other agricultural commodities.
